How To Open An Assisted Living FacilityAssisted Living Facility Staffing Companies
As previously stated in the Introduction, I have not stuffed this book with filler so I can charge you more. It is illegal for me to give legal advice, so I am not going to attempt to cover the ins and outs of employment law. There are licensed people and medical facility staffing companies in every state. These people and companies are usually worth paying to administer and staff your ALF. I like any business I get into to be as “hands off” as possible, and I pay people to do the work when I can. Assisted Living Facilities gush cash, so paying people to do everything is still a great way to turn a high profit. Just make sure YOU watch the money. Paying a medical staff sounds expensive, right? Of course CNAs are paid differently based on state, and sometimes city by city. The sad part, at least for the CNA, is that he or she does all the hard and often dirty work, but will be the least paid person associated with your ALF. Can you see where this is going? If you were paying a staff of brain surgeons, yes, it would be expensive. That $40,000 you got when you opened your ALF would cover your ALF with one doctor for what, an hour? You’re not going to be hiring brain surgeons, but the CNAs that you hire will be licensed and/or certified healthcare professions. The surprising part is the CNAs usually make less than $10.00 per hour, despite how hard they work, and despite the fact that they are licensed health care professionals.
Don’t hire a CNA that is not CPR and First Aid certified. Make sure he or she provides current certifications too. Of course, you should check your state’s regulations in on the State-byState page for staffing requirements and terms. Many states, Florida included, allow ALFs to offer advanced or special services such as:
Again, states have different terms and regulations when it comes to specialty certifications. All states require that your staff of CNAs have specialty licenses or certifications if your ALF offer special services. A Must-Read for Any Potential Assisted Living Facility Owner!
